For all that don’t know my story, I sustained a C4/5 spinal cord injury back in 2004 while having a night out with friends in Pacha nightclub, London. One act of a man’s stupidity, doing a backflip off of a balcony, was to change my life forever. After having emergency surgery I then spent 10 months of rehabilitation in Stoke Mandeville spinal unit. The early days of my injury were some of the darkest days of my life. I’m so grateful to be here now telling my story and doing what I do to raise awareness for a cure for spinal cord injury. Over the years I’ve raised thousands of pounds for medical research and raised awareness about what it is really like living with paralysis. I want to be a voice for the spinal cord injury community who wants a therapy to become available to reverse the signs of paralysis for a better quality of life. It has become a serious mission of mine and since telling my story I have always wanted to be totally transparent about what life is really like living with paralysis. This is something I certainly cannot sugarcoat. There are so many consequences of SCI and unfortunately people are dying because of this. It is about time that spinal cord injury became curable! Instead of September being SPINAL CORD INJURY AWARENESS MONTH, I would love to rename it Cure Month, for people to realise that there is a real urgency for a reversal for paralysis. I am a proud ambassador for @spinalresearch and I also fundraise for the charity who fund this vital life changing research. I will never give up the fight! Nothing is impossible! 💪💥👣

As you can see by my story, spinal cordinjury can happen to anyone at any time. For anyone that doesn’t know, I was paralysed in a club when a man decided to do a backflip off of a balcony. I sustained a C4/5 level SCI and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery and then I spent 10 months in a rehabilitation hospital. I battled with so many things, including mental health. Along with paralysis there are so many other complications. I suffer with chronic pain 24/7 as well which can at times be unbearable.Ever since I’ve had my SCI I have fought hard and did whatever I possibly could to raise funds and awareness for a cure for spinal cord injury. September is a month for raising awareness but to be honest I really would love to rename it to Spinal Cord Injury Cure Month to show that there is an urgency for a reversal for paralysis! I’m an ambassador for @spinalresearch charity and also a member of @curegirls where we are on a mission to make spinal cord injury curable! Living with a high level spinal cord injury is not easy. There are a lot of aspects that are pretty shite, but all of my SCI family over the world that are living with paralysis will tell you the same thing, we just carry on. I have lost a lot of very special friends along the way, losing their life to complications of a spinal cord injury. Taken too young and too soon.
this is why I do what I do. For some years now I have campaigned, fundraised and raised awareness for a cure for paralysis.
There is definitely hope for a cure on the horizon and this keeps me positive as I’ve visited the research labs in Europe and USA, so I’ve seen the work going on with my own eyes. After battling in the early days with deep depression I am really thankful of where I am today. I’m a Spinal Cord Injury Cure Activist, Cure Girl and an Ambassador for @spinalresearch charity. Earlier in the year I also signed up with a model agency, representation matters! 👊💥
I will do whatever it takes to facilitate medical research that will eventually reverse the signs of paralysis!
I am grateful to be alive and for all the incredible LOVE in my life! The work which I do makes me happy and keeps me motivated.

So, this happened last Wednesday… my BFF, soul sister Rachel told me to keep Wednesday evening free. I asked her why and she wouldn’t tell me as she wanted to surprise me. She told me to get to Camden and meet her at @roundhouseldn so I did. When I arrived at the Roundhouse I looked up and I saw a huge poster for Jean Paul Gaultier Fashion Freak Show!!!!! 😍😍😍 I was screeching with excitement as I am such a big fan of his. What can I tell you about the show? Well I cannot put into words to describe it because all I can say is that it was absolutely phenomenal! Seriously one of the best shows I have ever seen. I was seriously buzzing the next day after the show it was that good! The dancers, performers were just breathtaking! The vibe, music and story were unreal. it’s the last weekend next weekend and I am going again! I want to say the biggest thank you to my beautiful soul sister for such a wonderful surprise! Honestly, Rachel you rock my world and I LOVE YOU SO MUCH ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
